What We Believe

"What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us." - A.W. Tozer

Jesus Christ is returning one day to judge both the living and the dead and to usher in the fullness of God's kingdom on earth.

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Our Refuge based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

God

We believe in one eternal God who is the creator of all things. He exists in three Persons: God the Father, from Whom are all things, God the Son, through Whom are all things and God the Holy Spirit, Who is in all things. (1 Cor: 8:6) God is totally loving, completely holy, totally just and righteous, entirely good, having all knowledge and wisdom, full of mercy and gives abundant grace.   God the Father is the one who gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ for the salvation to all that believe in His Son.  (John 3:16)

Jesus Christ

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ as both God and man. He is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He is the embodiment of truth. He lived a sinless and exemplary life, performed miracles, willingly offered Himself up as a sacrifice for our sins, sickness, and pain. (Is. 53:4-6) All the fullness of the Trinity works to empower us to be conformed into the image and likeness of Jesus (Romans 8:29).

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the indwelling presence of God. The Holy Spirit is the down payment of our future inheritance (1 Cor. 6:19-20; 2 Cor. 5:4-8). He seals and anoints us in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:13; 1 Jn. 2:27). He fills us with His presence (Eph 5:18) and baptizes us with power to be witnesses and ministers of His Grace (Luke 24:48-49). The Holy Spirit is the revealer of truth and righteousness and works to impart into us the inheritance that is given to all that receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.

Holy Bible

We believe that the Bible is God’s Word. The Holy Bible and is inspired, infallible and applicable to our everyday life. (2 Tim. 3:16) It is the truth of God (John 17:17) that validates or invalidates all other revelation. God’s Word was not written by the will of men, Holy men were moved by the Holy Spirit, and these men spoke and wrote God’s truths. (2 Pet. 2:20-21)

Salvation

We believe salvation can only come through the work and revelation of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Salvation is received through faith in resurrection of Jesus Christ and the life surrendering confession of the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Rom. 10:9). The forgiveness, cleansing, (1 John 1:9) and forgetting (Heb. 10:17) of sin occurs through confession (1 John 1:9) and faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Heb. 10:22). It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that salvation is received by faith (Acts 4:12). The destiny of this salvation is for every person to be redeemed, transformed and conformed into the likeness and image of Jesus Christ.

Water Baptism

We believe water baptism is a prophetic declaration of our new life in Christ following our confession of faith (salvation) as a believer in Jesus Christ (Mark 16:16). When we step into water baptism, we are identifying with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, so that we may now live holy and fruitful lives. (Romans 6:2-4)
